The Heartfelt Band
The Heartfelt Band was founded in 2023 by Lucrezia Nappini (violin), Alessandra Giovannoli (cello) and Alessandro Trapasso (harpsichord) from the desire to restore freshness and spontaneity to instrumental music before the XIX century, observing precepts and teaching of historical sources.
The band conceives their performances as a pleasant conversation among the musicians and the public in order to bring young generations closer to the early music.
In our opinion, music is a shared social experience, which should provide both performers and listeners with individual happiness and benevolence towards others.
Our inspiration, aesthetic and moral, comes from two importat Masters of XVIII c.: Francesco Geminiani and his pupil Charles Avison. Geminiani was a famous violinist and
composer, and he thought that “the Intention of Musick is not only to please the Ear, but to express Sentiments, strike the Imagination, affect the Mind, and command the Passions [...] in executing every Piece with Exactness, Propriety, and Delicacy of Expression according to the true Intention of Musick.” (F. Geminiani, “The Art of Playing on the Violin, Op.9, 1751).
The other source is “An Essay on Musical Expression” by Charles Avison. The Essay was published in 1752 and it includes interesting information regarding the interpretation of the European late-baroque/galant music. It is intertwined with the aesthetic opinions of Francesco Geminiani.
Therefore our purpose is to recollect the inheritance of these authors observing the rules of the nature and refinement.
